Brooke Fairfax, an ex-analyst for the FBI, is pulled into a situation that tests her loyalties, especially when it comes to Declan O’Roark. The bourbon he produces may have been used to kill the Lieutenant Governor and it is up to Brooke to uncover the truth. She will need to navigate through political unrest and her growing feelings for Declan, while solving a crime with ties to her past.
Brooke is capable and although she is nursing a broken heart can’t help her attraction to Declan who pursues her from the start. His connection to horse racing and bourbon add a wonderful flavor to the story that gives the reader a small taste of the Kentucky culture. The facts about the differences between bourbon and whiskey were very fun to read, and reminded me of the things I learned on a recent distillery tour. It is easy to see the author loves the area, and I have to agree with her, it is a beautiful state…and the bourbon isn’t bad either!
Heather Sunseri’s Mindspeak series was amazing, but I have to say I am extremely excited to see what the future holds for Brooke and Declan as they nurture their budding romance. Beautifully done! Exposed in Darkness was a wonderful read! - DH
