Hunted - By: Elizabeth Heiter
Review by: D.A. Henneman
I loved this story and the author’s writing style, which I found to be clean and crisp. What a wonderful debut novel! It was obvious that Ms. Heiter did a great deal of research on profiling and she has a wonderful way of weaving the details of this complicated occupation into her story. Her characters were believable and relatable, two things I definitely look for in books I choose to read.
The heroine Evelyn is committed to her job as a profiler and her determination to find answers stems from a past that haunts her. When she becomes the killer’s next target, she barely escapes with her life. As she works through the details of the case, she is compelled to prove herself worthy of her position while fighting the growing attraction she has for a handsome co-worker.
This story was definitely more on the suspense side of the spectrum, there wasn’t a lot of romance. With that being said, Evelyn’s hesitation and Kyle’s continued interest in her gave just the right amount of tension that left me wanting more. The author definitely did a great job at compelling me to read the rest of the series; I already have the next one ready to go!
