Sharon's Read Preferences
I want to read quality literary fiction, historical fiction, or art novels or experimental novels. Perhaps my favorite is a historical fiction: The Indian Clerk, by David Leavitt. In this novel the famous Cambridge mathematician, G.H. Harvey encounters a brilliant, self-taught Indian mathematician named Ramanujan, and the author manages to explain some of the issues in mathematics in a way that even I can understand. There are sub-themes of homosexuality and British colonialism. It is a big book and I love it! Some other books I love are The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Muriel Barbery; The Neapolitan Quartet, Elena Ferrante; The Signature of All Things, Elizabeth Gilbert; The Infatuations, Javier Marías; anything by Alice Monroe; Snow Falling on Cedar, David Guterson; Hide, Matthew Griffin; The Vegetarian, Han Kang; The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao, Junot Diaz; Ghana Must Go, Taiye Selasi.
